Transferable skills

What skills would you learn if you attended one of our watercolour experience days? Well, you'd learn the basic techniques for producing watercolour paintings (obvs!), but these techniques can be put to good use with other media too.

Thus, in the images shown here, watercolour techniques involving control of brush and water were applied to water-soluble pencil and white marker pen (the cat sketches) and to water-brush, pigment liner and Quink (the life drawing).

I also brushed water over parts of the paper before using pencil, pen and Quink, and so had to judge the right moment to work into the drawing. These techniques combined to produce the correct tonal range - another aspect covered in our lessons at Ferndell.

To sum up: our watercolour experience will open up a whole new world of artistic exploration and creativity to you. Wow, it's got to be worth a try - and we still have one place left on our regular monthly watercolour day next Monday, 3 February.
